We offer a selection of age and school appropriate films in French for classes from grades 1 to 12 at the Roxy Theatre in Saskatoon to discover French-language films with unique visions, from diverse cultures, with different topics than what is found in the regular programming of commercial cinemas. Take advantage of the National Canadian Film Day to view a French Canadian film with us!

TOUPI & BINOU: THE MOVIE

After an escalation of blunders, Toopy and Dorothy, a comical genie, accidentally make Binoo’s beloved stuffed animal, Patchy-Patch, disappear. The trio immediately sets out to find the fabulous land of “The Lost and Found” where Patchy-Patch is surely to be found.

APRIL 16th, GRADES 3-8

KINA & YUK

Kina and Yuk, two arctic foxes, are ready to found their family living in the Great North of Canada, in the Yukon. The fracture of the arctic crust caused by the ice melting separates the foxes, leaving them isolated on a different fragment of pack ice. Kina and Yuk will have to challenge many dangers and explore new territories hoping to find themselves in time for their children's birth.

APRIL 17th, GRADES 9-12

RU

Based on the novel by Kim Thúy, Ru is the story of the arduous journey of a wealthy family fleeing from Vietnam in 1975, landing in Quebec. After a dangerous sea crossing and a stay in a refugee camp in Malaysia, young Vietnamese girl Tinh and her family are accepted as refugees in Canada and arrive in Granby where they begin their new lives. Tinh, of shy and reserved nature, has to learn a new language and integrate into her new environment.
